TWO-FER TUESDAY (Or Why Monday Is A Day Late This Week)

Let's be honest. I don't really have an excuse. But Keriann and I are besties anyway, so I'm not really thinking she'll be mad if I crash her Tuesday party. (Right Keri? Right?!)

Moving on. Last week, we introduced our AMAZING and AWESOME new Alliterati! This week, we are having MEGA CONTESTS OH MY GOSH to celebrate! Yesterday was supposed to be my day to announce, but I kinda dropped the ball. Yes, a responsible adult/ blogger I am. The upshot is that you get to enter TWO CONTESTS today if you want, because I happen to have it on good, g-chat authority that Keriann Greaney Martin will be posting her own contest later today. And then Matt, Taryn, and Marie are all going to have contests, too!

That's right, folks! FIVE (four) DAYS OF CONTESTS!

Are you excited??? I know I am!

Down to business: here's how my contest is going to work.

THE PRIZES:

I am mixing it up here, people. MIXING LIKE A DJ AND A BARTENDER HAD A BABY WHO GREW UP TO BE REALLY, REALLY GOOD AT MIXING. Are you ready for this? (Da-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na!)

I am awarding TWO prizes. Two winners will be able to choose from one of the following categories:

Prize category #1:

A copy of one of the following books:
-THE PERICLES COMMISSION by my awesome Australian friend, Gary Corby
-SILVER PHOENIX or FURY OF THE PHOENIX by my lovely local friend, Cindy Pon
-AN EPIC BATTLE by My Cats ... wait. That's not a book, or a prize. Sorry, folks.
-SOULLESS by Gail Carriger
-WILDEFIRE by Karsten Knight

Prize category #2:

MYSTERY PRIZE! This one is new. I'm curious to see what you guys think. If you pick this prize, you tell me if you want Middle Grade, YA, or Adult, and what genres you like, and I mail you a random book from my collection. MWA HA HA HA HA HA.

Prize Category #3:

A $20 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble to buy the book of your very own choosing.

THE CONTEST:

There are TWO WAYS TO ENTER. Hence, the two winners.

The first way to enter, and the first winner to choose their prize, is going to be a creative one. Write a short (SHORT!) two or three line blurb for the Greatest Novel That Never Was. You can play off of literary heavyweights or make up something all you. I, personally, like giving as little direction as possible and seeing where it takes people, but here's an example of the sort of thing I'm thinking, though not AT ALL my choice to win this contest:

"Norma Phillips always loved rainbows. But she never knew they could be deadly. When the rainbows start killing the people she loves, Norma will have to fight back for the first time in her life-- and learn a little bit about who she is along the way."

You can enter as many times as you like on this one, but remember, it has to have some thought behind it to win. :)

Second way/ second choice winner: standard random drawing.

+1 entry for following the blog and commenting on this post.
+1 entry for Tweeting, Blogging, what have you to advertise the contest/ us, and linking in a comment. I'll be honest-- I'm probably NOT going to have the time to check everyone and make sure ya'll are doing what you're supposed to. I will check the winners, though, so honor system it up, kay?

(Maximum two entries for random drawing).

In case it's not obvious: the creative winner will get first pick of the prizes, which means that if they want THE PERICLES COMMISSION, and the random drawing winner also wants THE PERICLES COMMISSION, the random drawing winner will have to choose another prize. Likewise with the gift certificate-- I'm only giving away one of those. (Hey! I might not have a job at the end of the month, folks). But the Mystery Prize can be chosen by both winners because I have more than enough books in all genres and age groups to send out two.

Makes sense? ENTER!

Doesn't make sense? Ask a question!

Ready.... go!

(Don't forget to read over our standard contest rules, found here.)

EDIT: OOooooopsie. Almost forgot: deadline to enter is Wednesday, August 24th, (yes, THIS year), by midnight Pacific.

Here's my random drawing entry, so I don't forget. Tweeted here.

I'll think about the blurb and get back to you, but it sounds like fun to me.

I'm entering for the random drawing, and I tweeted as well (@jadencoal).

Here's my blurb: Rhia spent her entire life as an underling to a bookseller, convincing people that books are truly magical and can take you to places you've never been. Little did she know that she spoke the literal truth. When she's swept into the spine of a novel by tiny paper faeries, she begins to learn how truly magical words can be.

Looking forward to more contests, and thanks for this one! :)

Okay, random drawing entry *ba-ching*

Now, a blurb...bah, I'm so bad at these things! Hmmm...

Lydia had always known spoons were the safest and most practical of all utensils. How people had survived on the Notherworlds before the Razing of All Pointy Things had simmered civilization down to just her tiny village was a mystery to her. But one day, a mysterious and handsome stranger shakes the very foundations of her beliefs with the shiny fork in his hand and one question tumbling from his full, slightly chapped lips: "How do you people eat steak around here?"

Ahhhhhh. I am lame today so I am just going for the random drawing entry as a current follower. And a tweet: http://twitter.com/#!/AmaliaTd/status/104992477215330305

(That mystery prize is really tempting, I'm not going to lie.)

My blurb:

He's an investment banker. She's a sexy alien superstar. Can they put aside their differences long enough to stop a galactic invasion, raise a bicultural family, and put on the rockingest concert this side of the Triangulum Emission Garren Nebula? Find out in the latest epic family horror-drama from best-selling author Stephen King.
