It's Friday, I'm in contest love!

We here at the Archives want to thank you all for joining our week o' fantabulous contests...have you entered them all? I daresay there's a mighty fine chance you'll walk away with one of the rad prizes that one of us has cooked up. And now is the time in the blog infomercial where I get to shout:

"But WAIT! There's MORE!"

Last week I relocated to Japan and naturally, I wasted no time in getting to a bookstore. And a stationary store. And a sushi restaurant. And OH MY GOSH DO I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's home, I can feel it...at least for the next few years.

So, awesome readers, for MY contest I thought I'd share a few things I've found in my recent wanderings. No ARCs at my fingertips here, but I do have up for grabs:

- A black sparkly notebook that no writer should EVER be without. It's blank and waiting for all your brilliant words, emblazoned on the front with: "CHEERFUL PLACE: You have a lot more potential than you think." (ITS SO TRUE, GUYS)
- A beautiful Japanese version of one of my favorite books THE LITTLE PRINCE by Antione de Saint-Exupery. Packed with full color illustrations, gold embossing (and lots of Japanese words.)
- A pen. Don't discount this part of the prize, people...this pen that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. That's all I'm gonna tell you. You want this pen. A huge part of why I came to Japan involved getting my hands on some of these amazing pens.

Prizes on a hotel bed...

Those is my perty fingers.

So what's it gonna take to win?

Comment! Say hi! Teach me a Japanese word! Heaven knows I need it right now. I'll even look HIGHLY favorable on someone who'd choose to share an awesome haiku (you can write it or just tell me one you like by someone else!)

And if you want to improve your chances even more...

+1 for following the blog
+2 for tweeting about it, blogging it, mentioning it on facebook

And go enter the rest of our contests down below! Contest ends next Friday (August 26th).

In the meantime, have a great weekend! Write well, enjoy the weather, and go draw a hat. Try to convince people it's really a boa eating an elephant.

Why hello, Miss Marie! Hope you're enjoying Japan. :) Here's a haiku I wrote for a high school writing project.

Crystalline waters
caress the sugar-grain shore
like a lover's hand.

Can you tell I love the beach? :P I'm already a follower, and I've tweeted (@jadencoal) and will tweet a few more times next week. Happy Friday!

You sold me on the pen, but I nearly forgot to enter because I got so distracted trying to draw that hat.

Following. Tweeted. And if you like really old-school RPGs (we're talking Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy I), I found this game to be a fun way to memorize all those freaking characters.

Of course I forgot them all, but you won't because you'll actually use them!

Man! I wish I could win this contest.

Ah well. I can still teach you a Japanese word.

"baka" means stupid.

You're welcome.

Hey, it's either that or "domo origato, Mr. Roboto."

Oooh, I want that notebook! I NEED it! I'm always forgetting how much potential I have, seriously. Also, a pen! Good pens are so hard to find. And, The Little Prince is my mom's fave book of all time, and her birthday is coming up...

I don't have a haiku, but this is my favorite poem:

Long ago, the delicate tangle of his hair covered the emptiness of my hands. (...would you like to hear it again.)

I'll give you +2 points if you can name that movie.

Also, I'm following, so one more point for me!

Japanese is hard
But eating Umeboshi
